Welcome to the Berea Municipal Court Website. Our goal is to provide our users with access to information about the Court, including departmental information, case and docket information. In addition, we have provided other court-related information and a payment section to make citation payment more convenient.
Located in the City of Berea, the Berea Municipal Court was established January 1, 1958. The Court handles cases from the municipalities of Berea, Brook Park, Middleburg Heights, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township, Strongsville, and The Metro Parks. The Ohio State Patrol is also represented on the Ohio Turnpike and Interstates 71 and 480.
The Court judge is Judge Sean Kilbane who effectuates the prompt and impartial administration of justice for criminal and civil cases arising within the Court’s jurisdiction. Clerk of Court Joseph DeMio is responsible for the business portion of the Court including the filing of all Traffic, Criminal, Civil and Small Claims cases. All hearings and trials are scheduled by his office.

Ohio Senate Bill 94 passed the Ohio General Assembly, Governor DeWine signed it, and it was delivered to the Secretary of State on July 25, 2024. This bill took effect October 24, 2024. The bill provides for an authorized increase in court fees to cover the computerization of the clerk’s office. Effective January 1, 2025, Berea Municipal Court will increase Court costs for Civil, Traffic, and Criminal cases per Ohio House Bill 94.
The Berea Municipal Court is accepting public comments until April 16, 2025 on amendments to the court’s Local Rules of Practice, specifically modifications to BMCR No. 1-4 and new rule BMCR No. 25.
